Turning Interest Into Action

What criteria does RRG use to select a social cause? Our criteria is simple: achievable, immediate & impactful. We take note of the social, environmental, and political challenges that developing nations face every month, in order to forecast the impact of our donations and engineer a suitable course of action. Our research is adamantly informed, so that we can present in depth information on the highlighted subject which can be found directly on the pages of our campaigns. Unfortunately, there are many grave travesties in the developing world which are silenced by popular media. At RRG, we venture to change that trend by informing the community about the short-term and long-term solution to such conflicts. We are transparent with the direct impact that our campaigns will make, and also communicate what further steps the leaders of the world must take to ensure that such travesties are attended to.

What makes our campaigns special? Our raffle campaigns are designed to encourage community interaction during the holy month of Ramadan. Numerous Islamic scholars have narrated that the deeds of voluntairy charity work, or Sadaqah, are heavily rewarded in Ramadan. We believe that this is a rewarding opportunity for the community to participate in charity work while having the chance to win extraordinary prizes. We select popular prizes from numerous small businesses to showcase the unparalleled talent of the Islamic community. To learn more about Sadaqah in Islam, please scroll down.

What does RRG do to ensure 100% of my donations are used? At RRG, we are committed to ensuring that 100% of your donations go directly to the cause you are supporting. We cover all administration fees from 3rd parties and any additional costs associated with the campaign. We are responsible for the delivery of raffle prizes, and we will ensure that every winner will receive their prize once it becomes available. RRG collects donations using RallyUp, who will offer a tax receipt to all donors. We do not offer refunds on any donations, and we do not store any information provided to us directly from donors.

When do I get to see the impact of my donation? RRG requests media from any 3rd party involved in the administration of humanitarian projects prior to the beginning of every campaign. We upload the media provided to us as soon as we get them once the campaign is complete! We love sharing the smiles and joy our campaigns bring to hundreds of people.

If I win a raffle prize, when do I expect to recieve it? At the end of our campaigns, RRG uses a computer automated system to randomly select prize winners from all raffle entries. If you are a lucky winner, we will get in touch with you immediately to discuss the method of delivery, and when exactly you can expect to receive your prize. We encourage prize winners to directly communicate with the small businesses that sponsor our lovely prizes, to ensure that the product/service is presented to your preference.

I'm a small business that is interested in sponsoring a product in RRG's charity campaign, what do I do? If you are a small-business owner who would like to sponsor your product as a prize for one of our impactful charity campaigns, please scroll down and get in touch with us prior to the month of Ramadan! We are always looking for unique & popular prizes that we can showcase to the community. RRG supports small-businesses by giving them an opportunity to appeal directly to the large Islamic community. We have received tremendous feedback on the platform we provide for small-businesses, and we welcome the opportunity to work with community leaders & innovators.

The Significance of Charity in Islam

Whatever good you put forward, you will find it with Allah (God)  73:20, Quran

What is the value of charity in Islam? Charity is a way for Muslim's to revitalize some of their Islamic values by giving back to those who are less fortunate.  In its very essence, Sadaqah requires gratitude for one's possessions, and is a way for Muslims to replant the seeds of faith in themselves (Al-Gazzali). Sadaqah is a a voluntary form of charity and is heavily rewarded in Islamic tradition.  It is narrated that “Sadaqah extinguishes sin, just as water extinguishes fire.” (Tirmidhi: 614).  In accordance with Islamic thought, Sadaqah can be rewarded in perpetuity through the concept of Sadaqah Jariyah.  This is when an act of charity has lasting effects, such as donating to the creation of a water well, or sponsoring an orphan (Penny Appeal Canada).  Its significance is unquestionable, as there are many instances where the Prophet Muhammad PBUH had encouraged charitable efforts and spoke about its mass rewards.   It is a form of purification, it rekindles the seeds of kindness and sympathy, and builds relationships that are characterized by love and friendliness (Al-Gazzali).  At RRG, we hold many of our charitable campaigns during the Holy Month of Ramadan which is a month of forgiveness, a month of love, and a month of great reward.  The Apostle said, "On breaking the fast of Ramadan, give the sadaqah' on behalf of those whom ye support". Ibn-abi-al-Ja‘d said, “Verily a single Sadaqah closes away seventy gates of evil".

What did the Prophet Muhammad PBUH say about Sadaqah?  The Prophet PBUH said, “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” (Tirmidhi).  The Messenger PBUH also talked about giving Sadaqah with the intention of healing oneself and others.  He said “Treat your sick by giving Sadaqah” (Abu Dawood).  This pertains to the fact that you can donate Sadaqah on behalf of someone who is ill as a method to alleviate their sickness, or to wash away their sins (Ibn- Jibreen, May Allah preserve him) On numerous occasions, Sadaqah is mentioned both directly, and indirectly in the Holy Quran.  For instance, the Quran says "O Prophet!  Take charity from their property so that it may clean and purify them" (Tawba: 103).  Monetary donations are not the only form of acceptable charity in Islam.  The Prophet PBUH said "to smile in the company of your brother is charity.  To command to do good deeds and to prevent others from doing evil is charity.  To guide a person in a place where he can go astray is charity" alongside some other instances (Bukhari).  Participating in charity is a sign of good character in Islam, and portrays the kindness and generosity that every Muslim should strive to attain.  It advocates to detach oneself from material goods, and to donate from the possessions that you own to protect oneself from miserliness (Al-Gazzali).  It is also important to recognize that charity should be given with pure intentions, to maintain a sincere heart (Muslim).

How do I ensure that my Sadaqah is accepted? In Islam, there are certain rules that have been narrated by great Islamic scholars pertaining to the process of giving Sadaqah.  Al-Gazzali provides us with 5 basic rules that govern over charitable actions.  First,  the payment must be made with good intentions, and should come from the heart of the donor.  Second, it is narrated that "The most excellent Sadaqah is the secret effort of one of meagre resources to relieve a poverty-stricken individual (Apostle).  From this we can learn that Sadaqah should be given in secret to preserve its righteousness.  RRG encourages donors to donate anonymously to our campaigns to preserve its secrecy.  Third, a person should refrain from making their Sadaqah void by form of taunting, or injury. Fourth, Sadaqah is accepted no matter how little, or how much is donated.  The Apostle said, "Give alms even a single date, for it will satisfy the hunger [of the starving] and does away with sin as the water extinguishes the flames".  Finally, it is reccommended by cholars to give Sadaqah once the fast is broken in Ramadan.  "On breaking the fast of Ramadan, give the Sadaqah on behalf of those whom ye support" (The Apostle)

ABOUT US

MEET THE TEAM

Our vision began in 2021, when we endured upon a journey to educate each other about the presence of charity in Islam.  We are a group of motivated students & professionals who seek to implement our skills to connect the community through charity.  After a successful campaign in our first year, we became aware of the communal need to have a responsible & trustworthy charity outlet that devises impactful contributions.

We are immensely grateful for our wonderful donors who branch from many different religions, backgrounds, and nations.   Our core values are centred around empathy for our brothers & sisters who are left astray by global tragedies. We believe that no good deed is left unrewarded, and we humbly request any donations so that we can make a collective effort to provide relief to troubled communities.
